Teesta Udyaan, popularly known as 'Thames of Jalpaiguri', is a beautiful park located on the bank of river Karola in Jalpaiguri town, 53 kms away from Siliguri. It was built by the West Bengal Forest Department in the mid 80's.

There are many trees and flowering plants all around the place making it a perfect place to relax away from the blues of the city. The park is maintained by the Forest Department and has many attractions for kids as well as adults. There is an artificial lake with boating facility and a huge concrete ship in the middle. A large open play area with amazig rides and swings is also built. Enclosures for geese, peacocks, rabbits and guinea pigs have been made so that visitors can have a good time witnessing the habitat of these animals. The park is mainly known for its appealing surroundings.

There is an aquarium inside the park. Many games are also arranged for the entertainment of kids. A deer park was also established with the aim of providing protection and a natural habitat to deers. Many social events, new year parties, fairs, etc. are also organized. The authorities arrange flower exhibitions in winter for further beautification of the park.

The Teesta Udyan is well connected via local transport. The nearest railway station is Jalpaiguri and the nearest airport is Bagdogra airport. The entry to the aquarium cost INR 5 per person. Water ball game is enjoyed by the kids costing only INR 20 for 20 minutes. The park is open within the timings 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM. The park remains open throughout the year from morning to evening including national and public holidays. However, the timings are changed in summer and winter. A small amount of entry fee is to be paid depending on the nationality.
