Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most popular attractions of Sambalpur, Odisha. It is located near Sambalpur at the distance of 22 kms.

Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1962. It is also known by "Badrama sanctuary". It is spread over an area about 304 sq. kms. This wildlife sanctuary of Ushakothi is home to a huge variety of flora and fauna. It comprises wild animals such as tigers, leopards, bison, elephants, sambar, and many others. Under the category flora, comes sal, acacia, casuarins, sandalwood, etc. , which can be found inside dry deciduous forest of this sanctuary. The two rivers that run within the premises of the sanctuary are Wardha and Penganga.

This wildlife sanctuary can be ideally visited during months like October to May. Visitors need atleast two to three hours in order to roam the entire wildlife sanctuary. Many tourists come from all over the country to have a look on the main attractions of this sanctuary, which are flying squirrels and rocket-tail dragons.

Badrama sanctuary remains open on all days of the week and can be visited during timings 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM. The entrance charges are INR 10 for Indians and INR 100 for foreigners. However, tourists have to pay parking charges as well such as INR 10 for light vehicles and INR 20 for the heavy ones.
