Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is one of the 50 tiger reserves present in India. The reserve is around 162 kms from the Rampur city centre.
Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is located near the Indo-Nepal border. River Sharada and Khakra flow on the southern boundary of the tiger reserve. It is considered that there are around 36 tigers in the tiger reserve and have a good prey base for the survival of the tigers. The tiger reserve was opened in September of the year 2008. In the tiger reserve, there are activities like Jeep Safari, Tiger Safari, Jungle Safari, Canter Safari, Nature walks, angling, fishing, trekking and camping apart from visiting the tiger reserve. Flora and fauna at the forest are too high. According to an estimation, there are around 2100 flowering species. Apart from tigers, leopards, swamp deer, hispid hare, Bengal floricans are spotted in the forest here. There are around 566 avian species in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. The forest earns a livelihood for around 6 million people. One should visit the tiger reserve from September to June. It is always better to avoid the visit during the rainy/monsoon season.
Visitors can ideally spend around four hours, on a visit to Pilbhit Tiger Reserve. Pilibhit Tiger Reserve can be visited during timings 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM. There is no entry fee.
