Meerapalli often known by Meeran Mosque is one of the most striking religious destinations for Muslims in Puducherry. The locals call it Meerapalli. Meeran Mosque is located on Yanam Vegadasala Pillai Street and is at a distance of 1. 7 kilometres away from the Pondicherry city center.
The Meerapalli is a historic mosque and was built over three hundred and fifty years ago and is the second oldest mosque in the region. It is one of the most famous mosques of Puducherry. The structure of the mosque has been inspired by the Gothic Islamic style and was built by the Arcot Nawabs and hence, this makes it all the more unique, special and antique. With the view to enhance the beauty of the facade, a bronze kallasa is placed on top of the mosque structure. The resting place of the divine graces of Meeran is located next to the mosque.
Meeran Mosque is the least complicated tourist destination as there is not entry fees. The month of Ramadan would be of great aesthetics, including the food, the seeking of blessing and the call for prayer. The mosque functions by its usual on all days of the week and all throughout the year without many restrictions.
