Garibnath temple is one of the major attractions of Muzaffarpur city. It is located within the city limits of Muzaffarpur.
Baba Garibnath Temple situated in the center of the Muzaffarpur town is undoubtedly one of the most famous "Lord Shiva" temples in the city. It is believed by the locals that the Shivling was found within a tree. A temple was then constructed on the stop, with the newly discovered shivling right at the center.
Baba Garibnath Temple is famous for granting the fulfillment of the wishes of its devotees. It is also called second "Baidhnath". Devotees bring the holy Ganga's water from Sonpur and offer it with prayers on Shivling, a practice going on since the 1960s. The Holy Banyan tree in the temple complex is older than Shivling itself.
Visitors can visit this place at any time in a year but the best time to visit here in the holy month of Sawan, Shivratri and Kartik Purnima when there are grand Poojas and festivities organized. The temple remains open at whole week throughout the year during timings 5:00 AM - 11:45 AM and 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM.
