Shobhabazar Rajbari is the palace of the Shobhabazar royal family located near the city of Kolkata. The Shobhabazar Rajbari is among one of the oldest Royal houses of Kolkata aristocracy. It was built by Raja Nabakrishna Deb, who was a prominent aristocrat of Kolkata.
The Rajbari is famous for its annual Durga Puja celebrations in the month of October-November. It is also an important heritage site of Kolkata resplendent with memories of the old zamindari era that dominated the region once upon a time. It is definitely worth visiting this place during the pujas as this is one of the few places which celebrate durga puja the traditional way.
The Shobhabajar Rajbari is a heritage site steeped in the history of Bengal particularly during the days of the "British Raj". The place is conveniently located and can be reached via metro rail, bus, car and/or taxi.
