Madhavaraya Swamy Temple is one of the popular tourist spots of Andhra Pradesh. The historic temple is located in the village Gandikota on the Pennar banks. It is 80 kms from the city of Kadapa. It can be conveniently accessed from personal vehicles.

Madhavaraya Swamy Temple lies within the premises of Gandikota Fort. Although, there are no more idols as they have been to another place a long time ago. Gandikota fort is also generally known as the Grand Canyon of India, which was established in Vijayanagara period around 15th C. Its walls are illustrated by fish and tortoise carvings along with Kakatiya architectural style.

Visitors can spend an hour here while strolling through this beautiful architectural piece as well as mesmerising views surrounding Pennar river. This fort is surrounded by Erramala hills on all sides, which adds natural beauty to it.

Being an abandoned place, it now remains open on all days of the week. Tourists can ideally visit this ruined yet beautiful building during timings 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
