Gymkhana Club is one of the prominent tourist attraction in the city. It is about 5 kms from Johrat.

Gymkhana club is a sports venue. It was built in 1876 by D. Slimmons. Gymkhana Club houses various facilities which include horse races, golf, cricket, polo, billards matches, and has a swimming pool and lawn tennis court as well. The Governor's cup is the major trophy which is awarded here annually. It's main attraction is the lush - green 9- hole golf course circuit. It is also the third oldest golf club in the world, which is still in use. This club served a venue for conducting horse races. For about half a century, indians were not allowed to gain access into the club. The green golf course hopes to achieve a spot in the list of world heritage sites being the oldest golf course in the whole of Asia. This club was built for recreation of british tea plants and is now one of the most visited places in Assam. It also has a beautiful clubhouse that was made by importing materials from Kolkata.

The cricket ground is known as Jorhat Gymkhana Ground and has a capacity of 8,000 and has turf wicket. Exploring the Jorhat Gymkhana club takes time as it is spread over a vast area. Flowers shows are arranged during winter and many tourists flock to this club to be a part of such shows. It is well constructed and well maitained. Winters is pleasant and this is the best time to visit Jorhat Gymkhana club. It is only during this time that one gets to see horse races and flower shows.

Gymkhana Club can be visited during timings 9:30 AM - 10:00 PM. The club remains closed on Tuesdays.
