Chirgaon is a small town located about 30 kms from the city of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.
Chirgaon is famous for being the birthplace of the famous poets like Maithili Sharan Gupt, Siyaram Sharan Munshi, and Munshi Ajmeri. The town had been frequented by Mahatma Gandhi on several occasions and was in an active involvement in the struggle for Indian freedom from the British rule. Hundreds of people from the town of Chirgaon joined the Freedom Movement between 1935 and 1945. There is an agricultural college in the town, apart from several other schools and colleges. The main places of interest in the town include the Durga Mata Mandir, Shiva-Sai Temple, Shree Hanuman Vatika, Parichha Dam, Gayatri Temple, Diamond Temple, and Vaidehi Sarkar Temple, to name a few. The residents of the town are mainly dependent on agriculture for their sustenance. There is no industry near the town.
The best time to visit the city of Jhansi is from November to March, when the weather remains quite pleasant and calm. Other times of the year, the weather is hot and temperatures can reach as high as 45 degree Celsius. The peak season to visit the city is during February, when the city celebrates the Jhansi Festival.
While there are no souvenirs which are famous from the area, there are some decent places where you can find shelter and food. The city usually comes to life around 9:00 AM and goes back to sleep around 8:00 PM.
