Eluru is a city and the district headquarters of West Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The city is on the Tammileru river. Mainly a manufacturing city, Eluru produces textiles and leather products but is most noted for its pile carpets. Located in between the Krishna and Godavari deltas on alluvial terrain, the city was formerly called as Helapuri and it has it roots in rich culture and history.
