The Rock Garden is famously known by the name of Nek Chand's Rock Garden. This garden was started secretly by Nek Chand in the year 1957 and was formally inaugurated in 1976. This garden houses sculptured rocks for over a total area of 40 acres. Nek Chand made utmost use of industrial and home wastes in order to build his sculptures that he later installed into a garden. This garden showcases many man-made interlinked fountains and waterfalls that were built with the help of waste bottles, construction wastes and other scraps. A total of 5000 people visit this astonishing garden every day. The total number of visitors that this garden has received since its inception is over 12 million.

The biggest, most awaited event at the Rock Garden is the Teej Festival. This festival is celebrated with a lot of pride by women. Teej is celebrated on a yearly basis for welcoming monsoon. Women celebrate it with great vigour by dressing up colourfully and beautifully, with henna (traditional herbal made designs on the palms). Cultural celebrations with singing programmes and dancing events are held and is conducted with great positivity.
