Japanese Garden is a modern Japanese styled park located within city limits of Chandigarh.
Japanese Garden was inaugurated in November 2014, it is the latest addition to the beauty of Chandigarh. This japanese style park, developed over an area of 13 acres, showcase the Japanese culture, art and various types of plants. The main attractions of this garden include a pagoda tower, meditation hut, zen garden, statues of Buddha, a small pond with pretend crocodiles, a bridge over the pond and much more. The Japanese Garden consists of two phases. The Phase-1 was inaugurated on 7 November 2014 and the Phase-2 of the park was opened to public on 4 June 2016. Both the phases of the park are connected by an underground tunnel decorated by beautiful Japanese paintings on both sides. The garden is designed using Japanese architecture and each of the elements in the garden is given a unique Japanese touch.
Undoubtedly, Chandigarh has many clean and green gardens but this Japanese Garden has been built according to the Japanese architecture. There are 4 water bodies in the garden and wooden bridges have been constructed over them. At night, the garden looks astonishing as the walk-ways have been illuminated with Japanese lanterns. The Valley of Animals was conceptualised in topiary form and is unique and different from other parks where all-green similar types of animal specimen are kept at a distance from one another while Garden of Palms has about 30 varieties of Palms.
Japanese Garden can be visited during timings 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM. This park is free for visitors, there is no entry fees. Visitors can find a good cafeteria along with some other food joints inside the garden premises.
