Burhanath Mandir is spread over three acres and is located on the banks of the Uttarvahini Ganga (flowing from south to north) river. It is adorned by statues dating back to 1937. According to the Shiva Purana, Baba Bal Vridheshwarnath or Budhanath is one of the 108 Nath in India. The Shiva Linga is swaymbhu or self-manifested. It is said that Lord Ramaï¿½s guru, Vashishtha Muni prayed here. Idol of Ma Bhavani can also be seen beside the Shivalinga or Lingam. Being one of the oldest temples in the region, it witnesses influx of devotees throughout the year.
