Joychandi hill is a very popular tourist attraction located in Raghunathpur, Purulia district of West Bengal. It is located at a distance of 45 kms from Asansol.

Joychandi hill has a height of 155 meters and is the lowest area of the Chota Nagpur Plateau. At the top of the hill there is a temple of goddess Joychandi. One needs to climb around 500 steps to reach this temple. The major attraction here is for the youth, as facilities for rock climbing and trekking are provided here. Another major attraction is the event that takes place during the winters. There is a festival celebrated at thefoothills every year after Christmas that lasts for a week. Artists from different regions as well as local artistsperfoms and showcase their skills. The event is named as Joychandi Pahar Pariyatan Utsav. Joychandi Hill remains crowded with tourists during winters and especially during the festival.

The view from the top of the hill is mesmerising, with scattered small hills and greenery specially during monsoon. It used to be the location of Satyajit Ray's movies. Many bengali movies have been shot in here. Hirak Rajar Deshe,a successful bengali movie directed by Satyajit Ray has most of the scenes of Joychandi Hill. Many locals come here onweekends just to relive those movie scenes again. There used to be a fort in the past but now only ruins have remainedbut it still adds up to the thrill.

Joychandi Hill is a one-day trip and should be visited during day timings. The most preferable time is during the sunset, around 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. There are small cottages and hotel available for accomodation.
