Sundarabai Khandelwal tower is a monument of great historical importance. It is regarded as the landmark of the city and is situated at a distance of 1. 5 Kms from Akola district, Maharashtra.
It was built in the memory of Sundarabai, an eminent lady. It is one of the oldest monuments in the city built 12th February 1942. It was inaugurated by Former Late Prime Minister Shri. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The foundation stone of this famous tower was lead by Member of Parliament Shri. Gopalrao Bajirao Khedkar on 2nd October 1960. The raw material used in the construction of this huge tower was stones which were from the famous quarry of Shirla. This tower is famous for its historical as well as architectural significance. It is known to be constructed by the Khandelwal Family in the memory of Sundarabai Khandelwal.
The historical aspect of this tower attracts the attention of several tourists. It is one of the best places to be visited by the art and history lovers. This tall tower has the top adorned with clocks on all of its four sides. Visitors can also spend some time with their families and get acquainted themselves with the history and architecture of India. An ideal time to visit and admire the architecture of this tower is from October to April. Visitors usually spend half an hour or so at this place.
It is the landmark of the city and a major attraction of Akola. Visitors can visit during the mornings or evenings. Visitors are advised to visit this place during timings 11:00 AM - 6:30 PM. There is no entrance fee to this place. It remains open on all seven days of the week.
